Fox 32 Chicago reported that the shooting occurred at 7:40 p.m. local time, and involved two men who opened fire outside her residence. The woman was hit multiple times and died at Christ Medical Center. No arrests have been made.
The Sun-Times reported this week that the city is dealing with a spike in homicides in 2020. The report said that about 78% of the victims have been Black.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office says that 2020 is the first year since 2016 and just the second time since 1996 that there have been at least 900 homicides.
The paper reported that two people were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a parking garage on Saturday night. A 23-year-old died in a separate shooting after he was struck in the hip, arm and shoulder, according to the report.

LA GRANGE, IL La Grange is seeing a lower rate of increase in coronavirus cases, but still experiencing about 100 more cases weekly, according to the Cook County Public Health Department.
As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had a total of 1,397 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 100 from a week earlier.
The three previous weeks saw increases of 99, 135 and 100 coronavirus cases, according to health department numbers.

A 71-year-old woman was identified Monday, one day after she was shot and killed inside a home on Chicago s Far South Side after two offenders opened fire from the outside, police said.
Emma Wright was killed Sunday evening inside her home in the city s Morgan Park neighborhood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner s office.
At approximately 7:39 p.m., Wright was inside a home in the 10800 block of South Morgan when two people began shooting into the residence.
