ARLINGTON, MA Arlington High School has been named one of the best high schools in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country. Among those schools, Arlington High School landed at number 830.
Massachusetts schools performed the best of any state, with 39 schools or 11.2 percent ranking in the top 5 percent nationwide. Arlington High School ranked 36th out of 348 Massachusetts high schools.

The state s top-ranked school is Boston Latin School, which was ranked 36th nationally.

WOBURN, MA Woburn Memorial High School has been ranked in the top 40 percent of public high schools in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country.
Among those schools, Woburn Memorial High School was ranked 6,335, just outside the top third of schools.

WATERTOWN, MA Watertown High moved up this year in the U.S. News and World Report s ranking of United States high schools.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country.
Among those schools, Watertown High was ranked 3,210 last year it came in at 4,140.

The purpose of the rankings is to provide insight into academic performance among underserved groups, showing how well schools are supporting these students, Anita Narayan, managing editor of education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
