Bodies of two Florida teens, aged 16 and 17, are found on the side of the road

Police received a call about two deceased male teenagers Wednesday morning  The Sumter County Sheriff s Office identified the teenagers as Isaiah Nelson, 17, and Preston Nixon, 16, and both were Wildwood, Florida natives They were found off County Road 219, close to an intersection with Highway 44 A cause of death has not been released, though the police believe that their killings do not appear to be a random act Both victims had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, according to police It is believed that the victims may have known their assailant, per police

Sumter County deputies have said a missing teen is now safe.  Officers say they need to find 14-year-old Ja Asia Chandler. She was last seen on Rogers Avenue at night on Monday, May 10.  Deputies say she has a diagnosed medical condition which requires medication that she does not have.  She was last seen wearing a red shirt, black biker shorts, a pink and black bonnet on her head and multi-colored Crocs.  She is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Sumter man arrested in connection with February assault on Belk Street

ABC Columbia May 12, 2021 2:31 PM EDT Courtesy: Sumter County Sheriff’s Office COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a man accused of hitting a female victim multiple times on February 10 on Belk Street. Authorities say 21-year-old Divine Keith Kersey was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault and battery, third degree. Deputies say he was later released after meeting the conditions of his bond.
