Pub in Ludlow fined by Shropshire Council for not keeping to Covid rules during lockdown

A PUB in Ludlow has become the first in the county to be issued a fixed penalty notice by Shropshire Council for breaching Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. But the pub is not being named and the Council says that it recognises that pubs are fighting to survive because of the restrictions. The council’s priority throughout the pandemic has been to protect the health and safety of the public, say the Council. Recent reports received, and monitoring undertaken by council officers, found that the pub – which cannot be named for legal reasons – was selling alcohol from its premises and allowing customers to remain adjacent to the premises whilst drinking. Under current England lockdown laws this is not permitted at pubs.

Van used for fly tipping in Thornton and Allerton is seized

BRADFORD Council officers have seized another van which was being used by fly-tippers. The white Ford Transit, which had been witnessed on three occasions being used to illegally dump rubbish, was taken away after being spotted in Chelwood Drive, Allerton. Enforcement officers suspect it had been used on numerous occasions to fly-tip including in rural locations around the Thornton and Allerton areas. The Council will now hold the vehicle for 15 days in order for the keeper to come forward and face questions about the criminal offences. Once the on-going investigation is complete the vehicle is likely to be scrapped due to its poor condition and to stop it being used for further crime.
