But for Berne Union senior Lucas Heston, his challenges were certainly so.
Heston underwent a kidney transplant in 2013. He was born with kidney failure and had to undergo several years of dialysis treatment. I ve had my transplant for seven or eight years, Heston said. Now I m just working on keeping it alive.
He had to take medication to make sure the kidney does stay alive, he said. Heston said another challenge was preventing his body from rejecting the transplanted kidney.
But despite such an incredible challenge, he said he enjoyed his time in high school and that his health is fine.
