High school graduation is right around the corner.
Last year, even though the coronavirus closed schools, some stuck with tradition and held standard graduation ceremonies. Others opted for drive-through events.
The Class of 2021 will graduate in the coming months and things will certainly look a little different this year.
School districts will be monitoring COVID-19 numbers until graduation day. All in-person events will adhere to the state’s guidelines for gatherings, which limit outdoor events at 50 percent capacity and indoor events at 25 percent capacity.
All of the school districts in The Express’ coverage area are shoring up plans for commencement. Here’s a closer look at plans for Class of 2021:

LOGANTON Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will be closed for the next three days due to a spike in COVID-19 cases at the school.
On Tuesday afternoon, SVRCS posted on social media that the school would be closing. The letter from CEO Tracie Kennedy read: “Due to the recent increases of COVID-19 cases among students and staff at the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, we will be returning to full remote instruction for the next three days (March 17, 18 and 19). We will return to the in-person learning/virtual learning as chosen by you previously on Monday, March 22.”
According to the release, the district sent computers home with students on Tuesday.
AHMAD LUCIANO
Ahmad Luciano, better known as Anthony, 17, 366 E. Bald Eagle St., Lock Haven, Pa., died unexpectedly March 13, 2021.
Born May 16, 2003 in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Jessica Luciano who survives in Harrisburg, Pa., along with his stepfather, Gary Thomas.
He was later adopted by his loving grandparents, Alma and Luis Luciano.
Anthony was a sweet, loving and cheerful human being who attended the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School where he participated in wrestling and met many good friends. He loved music so much that he recorded his own music. He also had many hobbies. In addition to his parents and grandparents he is survived by three brothers, Santos Luciano, Lock Haven, Pa., Rahmel Dyer, Trenton, N.J., and Jalil Jaber, Newark, N.J.

LOGANTON The Sugar Valley Concerned Citizens (SVCC) recently donated $3,000 to the Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Company’s new building fund. Fire Chief Chris Miller thanked SVCC President Carla McElwain for the generous gift as well as the many years of ongoing support and monetary help the Concerned Citizens has provided to the fire company.
The SVCC was formed in the late 1970s as an organization to support the local school in Loganton. Originally, the SVCC assisted school sports, Band Booster and PTA programs.
