In what could be the track s final horse racing season, Arlington International Racecourse released their stakes schedule Thursday.

With races beginning April 30, the chief day of the track s 68-day race meet will be Aug. 14, which has been long known as Million Day. The formerly known Arlington Million race will this year be a Grade I Mister D race, named for Duchossois and run at 1¼ miles for a $600,000 purse.

A national Thoroughbred aftercare charity with more than twenty years of history caring for retired Thoroughbred racehorses in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) will open a first-of-its kind farm designed to give the Louisville community and fans from around the world a direct connection to the horses at the heart of horseracing.
The new TRF Sanctuary Farm at Chestnut Hall will be the permanent home of 11 horses from the organization s national herd of 500 retired Thoroughbred racehorses. These “herd ambassadors” will serve as educators to tell the story of the long life and diverse second careers that await these equine athletes when their racing days are done. After filing plans with the City of Des Plaines and Illinois Gaming Board last month, on Monday night, Rivers Casino Des Plaines received the green light from the City Council for its proposed $87 million expansion.
Construction could reportedly begin as early as this spring at the U.S. midwestern state‘s most lucrative casino but
still needs regulatory approval from the Illinois Gaming Board. And while a vote has yet to be scheduled, Rivers spokesman Dennis Culloton said the project “is in front of them,” according to the Daily Herald newspaper.

Jointly owned by Louisville, Kentucky-based gambling giant Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN) and Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming, if approved, the 10-year-old gambling venue will see a two-story addition built between the existing 140,363 sq ft casino building and the recently enlarged four-level parking garage located on the north side of the 20-acre Cook County property.
