Days after being appointed by the Supreme Court as part of a four-member committee to resolve the deadlock between protesting farmers and the Central government, Bhartiya Kisan Union President Bhupinder Singh Mann has recused himself from the panel on the grounds that he will not compromise with the interest of farmers and Punjab. The protesting farmers and the Centre are set to hold their 9th round of negotiations at 12 pm on Friday. Mann said he is ready to sacrifice any position to prevent farmers interest from being compromised as farmer unions and political parties have raised doubts over the composition of the panel.

Bhupinder Singh Mann, former lawmaker and national president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), on Thursday said he is recusing himself from the four-member committee constituted by Supreme Court on farm laws to resolve the impasse between farmers and the Centre over the new agri-marketing laws.
Mann said, While I am thankful to Hon ble Supreme Court of India for nominating me in the 4 member committee to start a dialogue with Kisan Unions on the three laws brought in by the Central Government. As a farmer myself and a Union leader, in view of the prevailing sentiments and apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general, I am ready to sacrifice any position offered or given to me so as to not compromise the interests of Punjab and farmers of the country, I am recusing myself from the Committee and I will always stand with my farmers and Punjab.
