Minister Di Maio s mission to Doha

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio s two-day visit to Doha, Qatar, begins today.
Minister Di Maio is expected in Doha today to meet his counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, in the afternoon. Together they will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue.
Tomorrow, 21 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will co-chair with the Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications, Jassim Bin Saif Al Sulaiti, a Round Table on Green Economy.
Afterwards, Di Maio will hold talks with the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, and the Deputy Emir, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Over six million faithful perform Umrah, pray at Grand Mosque January 11, 2021

MAKKAH The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques announced that the presidency has facilitated the performance of rituals by more than six million Umrah pilgrims and worshipers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah since the gradual resumption of the Umrah service and visit to the Two Holy Mosques.
The presidency said in a statement that a total of 1,654,000 pilgrims performed Umrah and 4,640,000 worshipers performed prayer during the period from Oct. 4, 2020 to Jan. 9, 2021.
According to the presidency, it has managed around 800,000 pilgrims and worshipers during the first week of the current mid-academic year vacation. AMMAN Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Saturday met Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio, over discussions focused on activating the two countries’ cooperation and regional developments.
Safadi and Di Maio stressed their countries’ keenness on pushing forward cooperation in various fields, according to a ministry statement, with the two top diplomats agreeing on forming a follow-up team from the two ministries to identify specific areas for cooperation and set the necessary programmes to be implemented as soon as possible.
