ROME: The Venice Biennale’s 17th International Architecture Exhibition will be open to the public from May 22 to Nov. 21, organizers said on Monday.
The exhibition is called “How will we live together?” and it will be at the Giardini, the Arsenale and Forte Marghera areas in line with COVID-19 prevention measures and rules, they said.
It will be curated by Hashim Sarkis, a Lebanese educator and architect who since 2015 has been professor and dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT.
Sarkis was named curator of the 2020 Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2018, but this edition was canceled due to the pandemic.

Celebrated architect John Meagher dies aged 73 Co-founder of de Blacam and Meagher Architects was ‘invaluable to our culture’

The death has occurred of architect John Meagher, one of the founders of the well-known firm de Blacam and Meagher.
Mr Meagher, who died aged 73, studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology school of architecture (1966-71) and at Helsinki University of Technology school of architecture (1971-72).
He established de Blacam and Meagher Architects with Shane de Blacam in 1976.
In 2010 de Blacam and Meagher represented Ireland at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice .
In 2018 the firm received the outstanding contribution to architecture prize at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards.

Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal are the winners of the 2021 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
The decision to give architecture’s biggest prize to the French duo, who founded Lacaton & Vassal in 1987, was announced by Tom Pritzker, chair of sponsor the Hyatt Foundation, this afternoon.

The pair are best known for their large-scale housing and cultural projects which always focus on reuse and other principles of sustainability.
“By prioritising the enrichment of human life through a lens of generosity and freedom of use, they are able to benefit the individual socially, ecologically and economically, aiding the evolution of a city,” said today’s statement.
