With just over a week until the next president of the African Football Confederation (CAF) is elected, FIFA has asked three candidates to back South Africa s Patrice Motsepe, a source close to one of the four candidates told AFP.
World body FIFA is keen for a fresh start in Africa, the source said, adding, Augustin Senghor (Senegal) and Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania) are open to accepting the proposal of the International Football Federation and becoming vice-presidents themselves. Jacques Anouma of Ivory Coast would be offered a role as advisor to Motsepe.
Motsepe is FIFA s preferred candidate, they want someone new and not implicated in the former presidency, the source said. They want a better image so they can attract investors and sponsors.

Hanoi - The International Football Federation (FIFA) has recognised three local female referees, in addition to three assistant referees, as coming up the standards of its Elite level, reported VOV.
This represents the highest level of officiating, with elite FIFA referees being chosen to officiate important events, such as World Cup qualifiers, the AFC Champions League, and the Asian Cup.

The International Football Federation will finance the construction of a technical centre, at Kabala, near the Malian capital, Bamako, a sports source told PANA on Monday.
FIFA will also implement a Technical Support Programme to strengthen the National Technical Directorate of the Malian Football Federation.
A mission from FIFA and the French Football Federation paid a visit to Mali last week to assess the project to build the technical centre.
The mission consisted of the FIFA Regional Director for West Africa, El Hadj Wack Diop; the consultant in charge of the TSP for the FFF, Ludovic Debru; a member of the FFF technical management, the FIFA Regional Technical Consultant for West and Central Africa, Dominique Niyonzima; and the FIFA/FFF TSP expert at FEMAFOOT, Malik Boulegroune.
