PFA: New concussion laws have jeopardised player health in some instances

PFA: New concussion laws have ‘jeopardised player health’ in some instances Updated: April 15 2021, 1.31pm Sheffield United’s George Baldock would have been better protected by a temporary concussion substitute system, the PFA has said (Lindsey Parnaby/PA) The new concussion laws being trialled in England have “jeopardised player health” in some instances and have created a system which is loaded with pressure on medical staff, according to the Professional Footballers’ Association. It has joined forces with world players’ union FIFPRO to write to the game’s law-making body the International Football Association Board (IFAB), calling for the scope of the trials to be extended to include temporary concussion substitutes from June onwards, as well as the existing permanent sub option.

Football concussion sub trials fall short of protecting players - FIFPRO

Paris (AFP) – Trials using permanent concussion substitutes in English football have sometimes “fallen short of their objective” and “jeopardised player health”, putting unfair pressure on medical staff, the global players’ union FIFPRO and England’s Professional Footballers’ Association have said. In a joint letter sent to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), which determines the laws of the game, FIFPRO and the PFA said existing trials using permanent concussion substitutes should be extended to test parallel temporary concussion replacements “as soon as possible”. The Premier League began trialling the use of concussion substitutes in February in response to growing concerns about the damage caused by head injuries in football. The trials are also being used in the FA Cup and Women’s Super League.

Mario Lemina: Why I will give Fulham everything

In a chat with SkySports, the former Juventus and Olympique Marseille star is grateful to the Londoners for another opportunity to star in the English top-flight as well as the club’s fans for their unyielding support. I respect that they give me a chance to play again in the Premier League. I will give everything until the end of the season, that s my job and I will keep going.

The rules say it wasn t handball - Dortmund s Can unhappy with decisive penalty call against Man City

What was said?  “All in all, that was okay. In the end, that doesn t really help us either. The game clearly changed after the 1-1 draw, the ex-Liverpool and Juventus player said to  Sky Germany. I touched the ball first with my head and then it somehow hit my hand. The rules say it s not a handball. To have received a penalty against us because of that and maybe because of that, to have lost the game leaves a bitter taste. A goal was stolen from us in the first leg. It hurts. Can s Dortmund team-mate Marco Reus was also unsure about referee Carlos del Cerro Grande s decision.
