Asian Paralympic Committee and International Blind Sports Federation team up to increase classifiers in Asia 05/03/21
A course designed to increase the number of national classifiers who can work with Visually Impaired (VI) athletes is being delivered throughout May by the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) and the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA).
Over 20 Ophthalmologists and Optometrists from across the region will take part in the online course which consists of four online theory sessions after which, subject to successfully completing a test, they will receive a certificate to show that they have completed part 1 of the course. The course is being delivered by Dr Rokiah Omar who is the Head of the APC’s Classification Committee and IBSA Head Classifier Jose L Doria.

Egypt replace Algeria in women s goalball line-up for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Friday, 23 April 2021
Egypt has been added to the line-up for the women s goalball tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games following the withdrawal of Algeria.
The place vacated by Algeria had been due to go to Britain, the first reserve as the highest ranked non-qualified nation, but the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has allocated it to Egypt to ensure universality and regional representation at the Paralympic Games .
Algeria qualified for Tokyo 2020 at the African Goalball Championships last year, despite the event not meeting International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) requirements to be classed as a Regional Championship as only three teams competed.
