Rana Dasgupta, a prosecutor of International Crimes Tribunal, today submitted a memorandum to the administrator of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) urging the government for necessary steps to turn the house of Deshbandhu Jatindra Mohan Sengupta into a museum to preserve the memory of anti-British movement heroes.
Poet and Journalist Abul Momen was with him, among others, at that time, said Rana. We submitted the memorandum to the CCC Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan seeking his cooperation so that government takes necessary steps to turn the house into a museum as per the decision taken by Ministry of Cultural Affairs on July 9, 2018 and to declare the house and surroundings as heritage site as per Antiquities Act and Article 24 of the Constitution, he said.

New Delhi, Dec 24 : Turkey is going all out to woo Bangladesh. After inaugurating a plush embassy campus at Ankara, Turkey has now evinced interest in selling weapons to the Sheikh Hasina government. The issue was discussed in a meeting between Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen despite not being on the agenda. This was not in the agenda. But the Turkish minister shared the idea of defence cooperation, the Daily Star quoted Momen as saying.

The Awami League promised to constitute the tribunal and hold war crimes trials in the manifesto of the ninth general election in 2009, and formed the International Crimes Tribunal or ICT the following year.
The tribunal has delivered verdicts in 41 cases of crimes against humanity and convicted 95 of the 105 accused. Of the 69 death-row convicts, 35 are on the run and one other died as a fugitive. Life terms were handed down to 24 of the accused, but 12 of them are currently absconding.

DHAKA: After 49 years of the Liberation War, the Bangladesh government has approved a primary list of 1,222 martyred intellectuals who made sacrifices for the nation in 1971, a Minister announced. On Sunday, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM MozammelHuque said the list will be formally released this month.
Huque s announcement came a day ahead of country observing the Martyred Intellectuals Day on Monday. In separate messages on Sunday, President M. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, paid homage to the martyred intellectuals.Huque said the list was approved at the first meeting of the committee formed to compile it.
