Shooter Rostamian and basketball s Bahrami named Iran flagbearers for Tokyo 2020

Iranian shooter Hanieh Rostamian and basketball player Samad Nikkhah Bahrami have been chosen to serve as the country’s flagbearers at the delayed Olympic Games here.
Iran will be among the National Olympic Committees to select two flagbearers, after the International Olympic Committee approved a move to allow one male and one female athlete from each nation to have the honour at the Opening Ceremony on July 23.
The decision formed part of efforts to enhance gender equality.

New Zealander Shirley Hooper has been elected as the new Vice President of World Netball (formerly International Netball Federation).
Hooper has been a part of the international governing body since 2017 when she was voted in as a Further Director and went on to act as Chair of the Commercial Committee and a member of the Foundation Strategy Group.
Netball has played a significant part in Hooper’s life for over 50 years as a player, umpire, sponsor, broadcaster, Board member and Chairperson.
Her extensive experience and knowledge in executive management, marketing and sporting governance come from Marketing Director roles with Bendon, Tru-Test and TVNZ; running her own marketing consultancy business; several corporate directorships and a range of sporting governance roles with netball and synchronised swimming in New Zealand.

Defending champions United States maintained their 100 per cent record in the International Basketball Federation Under-19 World Cup in Latvia as they reached the quarter-finals with a 132-60 victory over South Korea at the Olympic Sports Center in Riga.
Canada also kept a perfect record as they beat Puerto Rico 86-56 at the Daugavpils Olympic Center.
The United States opponents in a round of matches that will now switch to the Arena Riga will be Spain, who earned their place with an 86-73 win over Australia, with Ruben Dominguez contributing 24 points.
