Description of the disaster The Region of Hodh Ech Chargui and especially the departments of Bassiknou, Amourj and the district of Adel Bagrou, recorded heavy rainfall, up to 250 mm, during the month of August 2020. The event aggravated the vulnerability situation of many families, already affected by protracted and new crises, such as food insecurity and COVID-19 pandemic. According to primary and secondary data, about 9,282 people were affected by floods, with three deaths recorded.

The United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago has provided a breakdown of the millions it gave to humanitarian and non-governmental organisations to support Venezuelan migrants. The disclosure comes on the heels of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley asking where did the US$11,440,016.43 million in United States funding go to support Venezuelan migrants, as he noted no money was received by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
