Australia provides AU$ 5 million to support Bangladesh’s Covid-19 preparedness and response Photo: Collected Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne has announced providing AU$ 5 million (Tk 330 million) to the Red Crescent to support Bangladesh s Covid-19 preparedness and response.  This funding will be provided through the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and will be used to procure and distribute essential supplies, including oxygen and related equipment, to help communities withstand the health and social impact of the pandemic, said the Australian High Commission in Dhaka today.  The funding is in addition to the AU$ 5.7 million Australia provided last year for personal protective equipment, Covid-19 awareness campaigns, and emergency food and income support.

He praised the wide international solidarity campaign that stood by the QRCS after it was targeted, whether at the level of governments, national societies, international organizations, media institutions and local bodies or at the public level, which emphasized the importance of providing protection for the humanitarian teams working to help the people of the Gaza Strip.
