Let us use the stories of their everyday heroism and service to call for all countries to invest in decent work and a new social contract for nurses and midwives as part of their commitment to health for all.

Jhpiego has announced the appointment of two new leaders.
Tigistu A. Ashengo, a global health physician, educator, and leader, has been named chief medical officer.
Pandora Hardtman, an alumna of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, will serve as chief nursing and midwifery officer.
Ashengo has more than 15 years of experience working in public health, clinical and surgical care, and strategic leadership in resource-limited settings. He joined Jhpiego Ethiopia in 2005 as a technical director and subsequently served as HIV/AIDS infectious disease adviser, then as HIV/AIDS team leader for the U.S. Agency for International Development Bureau for Global Health s flagship Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program and most recently as associate medical director.

The work of eight Pakistani nurses and midwives has been recognised in the Women in Global Healthâs 100 Outstanding Women Nurses and Midwives this year. All eight are from Karachiâs Aga Khan Universityâs School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Nurses and midwives from 43 countries have been recognised for their contribution to raising healthcare standards across the globe, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. The list was a result of collaboration between the Women in Global Health and World Health Organisation, United Nations Population Fund, Nursing Now, International Council of Nurses and International Confederation of Midwives.

Eight Pakistani nurses and midwives have been honoured in the global 2020 100 Outstanding Women Nurses and Midwives. All eight nurses and midwives from Pakistan are faculty or alumni at the Aga Khan Universityâs School of Nursing and Midwifery, SONAM.
One hundred nurses and midwives from 43 countries have been recognised for their contribution to raising healthcare standards across the globe, especially during these difficult times. These outstanding leaders have been acknowledged by Women in Global Health (WGH), which collaborated with the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations Population Fund, Nursing Now, International Council of Nurses and International Confederation of Midwives on the list.
