Governance Changes for World Taekwondo - Federation Focus 04/21/21 (ATR) Major amendments to the statutes of World Taekwondo will be going to the federation’s general assembly for an electronic vote. World Taekwondo president Chongwun Choue (ATR) The World Taekwondo Council approved the revision of the statutes this week. Age limits and term limits have been placed on elected positions. Elected officials will only be able to serve a maximum of three consecutive terms before a break of at least four years. They are also limited to accumulatively serving a maximum of three terms in any one position. The count of terms served begins after the reforms are passed, so Chungwon Choue can run for a fifth term as president later this year.

IPC to begin a three-year review process of the 2015 Athlete Classification Code 03/15/21 South African Paralympian Scott Field to act as independent chair of the Code Drafting Team Following approval from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board, the IPC is to undertake an extensive three-year three-phase open consultation review of the 2015 Athlete Classification Code. Classification is a unique cornerstone of the Paralympic Movement and performs two critical functions: it determines which Para athletes are eligible to compete in a sport; and it groups athletes into sport classes which aim to ensure that the impact of impairment is minimised and sporting excellence determines which athlete or team is ultimately victorious.
