Contecon Guayaquil S.A. (CGSA), International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)’s subsidiary in Ecuador, welcomed the creation of a special economic zone at the country’s main seaport to boost foreign trade.
This week, CGSA, together with national government and port authority officials, presented its Declaration of Special Economic Development Zone (ZEDE) to strengthen the competitiveness of Ecuador’s exports.

ZEDE will be situated in an area adjacent to the Port of Guayaquil, acting as a hub for national and international investments.

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) First Vice President Al Panlilio hopes athletes and coaches bound to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics late July would be vaccinated by next month.
Panlilio, who heads the task force for vaccine procurement for athletes, said they are working with the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) owned by Enrique Razon after the business tycoon committed to provide vaccines for Olympic-bound athletes and coaches.
“Hopefully by May maipasok na yan in time for the Olympics,” said Panlilio during his guesting with Noli Eala’s Power and Play program Saturday, April 17.
The Olympics will be held on July 23 to Aug. 8. Although organizers do not require athletes to get vaccinated, PH sports officials are still after the health and safety of the athletes.

In the company s virtual annual stockholders meeting, Chairman Enrique Razon was asked for a timeline for the arrival of the vaccines from the Cambridge-based biotechnology firm. Moderna vaccine will be arriving towards the end of the second quarter which is in June, he responded. He did not elaborate. April 10, 2021 OF THE 134,160 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 ( Covid-19) vaccines that the Department of Health (DOH) 7 has received, all except for 400 buffer doses of Sinovac have been distributed to various vaccination sites in the region.
In a text message to SunStar Cebu on Saturday, April 10, 2021, DOH 7 spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said Central Visayas has received 104,160 doses of Sinovac and 30,000 doses of
AstraZeneca (AZ) as of Friday, April 9, 2021.The total number of individuals/health care workers who have been inoculated with AZ is 29,897.
A total of 9,874 health care workers have received their second dose of Sinovac, while 42,185 have received the first dose.

The Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)’s Australian aubsidiary, recently welcomed the container vessel Soroe Maersk, the longest vessel to call at the Melbourne port.
The vessel’s “record-breaking” maiden call shows that the Port of Melbourne is ready to accommodate the global trend of growing vessel sizes, Brendan Bourke, Port of Melbourne CEO, maintained.

Maersk deployed the Soroe Maersk to Sydney and Melbourne to load empty containers to be repositioned back to Asia where there is a shortage.
The vessel has a total carrying capacity of 9,640 TEUs and a record length of 346.98 meters, 11.28 meters longer than the previous longest vessels to call at the port.
