The Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)’s Australian aubsidiary, recently welcomed the container vessel Soroe Maersk, the longest vessel to call at the Melbourne port.
The vessel’s “record-breaking” maiden call shows that the Port of Melbourne is ready to accommodate the global trend of growing vessel sizes, Brendan Bourke, Port of Melbourne CEO, maintained.

Maersk deployed the Soroe Maersk to Sydney and Melbourne to load empty containers to be repositioned back to Asia where there is a shortage.
The vessel has a total carrying capacity of 9,640 TEUs and a record length of 346.98 meters, 11.28 meters longer than the previous longest vessels to call at the port.

Filipino billionaires grow wealth despite pandemic

Despite the coronavirus pandemic ruining the global economy, Filipino billionaires saw their wealth grow, the latest Forbes billionaires list showed.
The 2021 list, which has 2,755 billionaires, included property magnate Manuel Villar, who saw his wealth grow by 28.6% to $7.2 billion (P349.45 billion) in 2021 from $5.6 billion (P271 billion) in 2020.
The 71-year-old Villar, who chairs mall operator Vista Mall, is the richest in the Philippines and 352nd in the world. (READ: Entrepreneur Manny Villar: I don t like politics anymore )
Ports and gaming tycoon Enrique Razon Jr, who leads International Container Terminal Services and Bloomberry Resorts, saw his wealth jump by 43.3% to $5 billion (P242.67 billion) in 2021 from $3.4 billion (P165 billion) in 2020.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 7) Former lawmaker and real estate magnate Manny Villar is still the richest Filipino in the Forbes World s Billionaires List this 2021.
He is among the 17 Filipinos in the international publication s list, up from last year s 15. Forbes listed 2,755 billionaires worldwide this 2021, also higher from the 2,095 the year prior.
Villar placed 352nd worldwide, with a net worth of $7.2 billion (around ₱349.7 billion) this year. Villar is behind real estate conglomerate Vista Land & Lifescapes, which has delved into the development of subdivisions, condominiums, malls, convenience stores, and even coffee chains.

Forbes.
Forbes on Wednesday released its annual worldâs billionaires list which had a record 2,755 billionaires, with 493 newcomers. Their combined wealth stood at $13.1 trillion, more than 60% higher than the $8 trillion a year ago.
âIt was also the first time that the combined net worth of the worldâs billions crossed into double-digit trillions. The pace at which huge fortunes have been created is astonishing,â Kerry A. Dolan,
