US tradeshow sector forms new advocacy alliance
A coalition of eight US event industry associations has formed a new advocacy group, the Exhibitions and Conferences Alliance (ECA), to lobby the interests of the US exhibitions and conference sector with legislators.
ECA describes its role as being, “to help government officials understand the important role events have on economies and job creation. We promote the impact of the sector, drive general industry awareness, monitor legislative issues, advocate for the industry’s common interests, and work with partners globally as needed, to maintain a favorable operating environment within the US.
“ECA provides a long-term strategy focused on creating substantive relationships with policymakers and ensuring priority matters are heard”.
Music venues & live event industry offer vaccine aid in letter to Biden
The National Independent Venue Association, aka NIVA, has teamed up with live event producers and other industry groups, including
Live Nation, AEG, We Make Events, The Broadway League, National Independent Talent Organization, and more, to offer their venues and staff to President
Joe Biden to aid in the process of giving out COVID vaccines. It s not a new idea Coachella producers Goldenvoice have been in talks with Riverside County, CA to create a mass vaccination site and with event workers continuing to weather the industry shutdown, with no new work on the horizon, their experience in setting up spaces and managing crowds of people could be a major boon to the vaccine effort.

Live industry pros have been suggesting for months that venues, especially those with large parking lots, would be ideal for mass distribution of a vaccine.

Live Music Venues Offer to Become COVID-19 Vaccination Sites
One of the industries hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic is offering to help get the public vaccinated.
A number of leaders in the music industry have sent a letter to President Biden outlining how they could provide much-needed spaces to aid in the rollout of the vaccine. They say their industry is uniquely suited to help with this effort: These vaccines are our best chance at putting COVID-19 behind us, and our experiences organizing events and managing crowds now put us in the unique position of being the best prepared and most qualified industry to support the vaccination effort and get this country on the road to recovery.
