13 transport organisations from 13 countries have urged the European Commission to take action against the multiple driving bans for heavy goods vehicles in the Austrian Region of Tyrol.
Transport organisations from Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania and Sweden and the International Road Transport Union have written to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen calling for European Commission action against driving bans for HVGs in Tyrol.
Tyrol has imposed restrictions on commercial goods vehicles pointing to problems with poor air quality, while at the same time increasing speed limits for cars for the same reason.

MUSCAT, February 28, 2021 Oman has succeeded in transporting the first consignment of foodstuff to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) through the application of the international road transport system Transports Internationaux Routier (TIR). This system will cut customs fees by 30% and timeframe by 50%, compared to the ordinary transport system, an Oman News Agency (ONA) report said. The accomplishment celebrates efforts exerted by Asyad Group in cooperation with the Directorate General of Customs, Royal Oman Police, to facilitate cross-border transport and eventually promote commercial exchange between the sultanate and countries of the world.

Muscat: Oman succeeded in transporting the first consignment of foodstuff to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) through the application of the international road transport system Transports Internationaux Routier (TIR), thereby cutting customs fees by 30 per cent and time by 50 per cent, compared to the ordinary transport system.
The accomplishment celebrates efforts exerted by Asyad Group in cooperation with the Directorate General of Customs, Royal Oman Police, to facilitate cross-border transport and eventually promote commercial exchange between the Sultanate and countries of the world.
The system’s launch also seeks to round up the series of import and market the Sultanate as an international logistics hub offering integrated services and competitive incentives to its clients.

EUROPE – Germany is coming under immense pressure from other member states over its policies toward foreign HGV drivers in relation to control of the Covid 19 virus. In the past few days several leading organisations with road transport interests have complained directly to the German government.
On 14 February Germany effectively closed its land borders with the Tyrol region and Czech Republic which brought an immediate response from the Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG) whose President, Mr Wolfgang Göbel wrote to Mr Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director of the EU Commission s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), and to Mrs Elisabeth Werner, Director of Land Transport at the European Commission.
