Construction of Livermorium Plaza at Mills Square Park is expected to begin in July and last about 10 months, according to the City of Livermore.
The plaza will commemorate the discovery of the synthetic element Livermorium, created by scientists from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in collaboration with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia.
Livermorium, a highly radioactive element with an atomic number of 116, was first detected and then confirmed in experiments conducted from 2000 to 2006. The element was named Livermorium by the International Union of Pure and Applied Science in 2012.
The plaza, at the corner of First Street and Livermore Avenue, will feature a granite water feature, seating areas, shade trees, and âspecial lighting for all to enjoy,â according to the city.
The World Health Organization (WHO), as part of its International Nonproprietary Names (INN) system, has recently made progress in developing and harmonizing the definition paragraphs that support the naming of cell-based substances.
Those efforts are reflected in a newly revised INN application form for cell therapy substances, which was officially approved during the 70th INN Consultation in April 2020.
That version is now mandatory for all new INN applications for gene therapy (GT), cell therapy (CT) and cell-based gene therapy (CGT) substances.
“
The work was initiated based on the large volumes of cell and gene therapy applications the WHO was seeing in relation to INN requests,” Massimo Dominici, medical oncology expert, CEO of Rigenerand, and a member of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on the International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations serving the INN Expert Group, told us.

UK Government Chemist team publish a tutorial review of cannabinoids
CBD edible products are now regulated as novel foods. They must also be compositionally safe and correctly labelled. Wide variation in compliance with CBD label claims has been recorded and the presence of controlled cannabinoids is a known risk.
To assist regulation and trade the Government Chemist has published a tutorial review of the common names, abbreviations, regulation, psychoactivity and analytical methodology for the principle cannabinoids. Their chemical structures and IUPAC nomenclature have also been included.
The abbreviations, common names and chemical structures for 16 cannabinoids are listed along with their International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) names, the unique scientific reference.
