Ramsay Health Care chief executive Craig McNally says he has been working on the takeover of Spire Healthcare Group in the UK for about 10 years.
COVID-19 presented the opportunity to buy the business for $1.8 billion and more than double the size of Ramsayâs hospital network in the UK.
McNally is bullish about the transaction. He says it will transform Ramsayâs UK business, which includes 34 acute hospitals and day procedure centres, by adding Spireâs 39 hospitals and eight clinics across England, Wales and Scotland.
