Following the resignation of Tokyo 2020 President Mori Yoshiro, the IOC issued the following statement.
“The IOC takes note of President Mori’s decision to step down as President of the Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
IOC President Thomas Bach said: “The IOC fully respects President Mori’s decision to step down and understands his reasons for doing so. At the same time, we would like to thank him for his outstanding contribution to the organisation of the postponed Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 over the course of the past years. Among his many accomplishments, President Mori helped to make Tokyo the best-ever prepared Olympic city. The IOC will continue working hand-in-hand with his successor to deliver safe and secure Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in 2021.
India to skip Changwon World Cup in April due to Covid quarantine

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): India will not compete in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in April in Changwon because of stricter 14-day Covid-related quarantine rules in South Korea, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) said on Monday.
India s Olympic hopefuls were to get crucial exposure at the World Cup before going to Tokyo for Games beginning on July 23. Athletes participating in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Changwon from April 16 to 27 will not be exempted from the mandatory two weeks quarantine rule. We don t know how many shooters from other countries will compete, but we have opted out of the competition, an NRAI official told IANS.
The shooters won’t be exempted from the quarantine as per the directives of the concerned South Korean authorities and won’t be able to train during that period
Some of India s leading shooters, including Asian Games 10m air pistol champion and Tokyo Olympics hopeful Saurabh Chaudhary, will compete in the third and fourth domestic selection trials starting at the Karni Singh shooting ranges here on .

New Delhi, Feb 3 : When the Indian trap shooters step on to the ranges in this month s International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, it will be their last chance to grab an Olympic berth via individual quota place.
In the 2019 Olympic qualification period, trap shooters weren t impressive and failed to grab Olympic quota place. Overall, India have so far won 15 quota places, including 13 in rifle and pistol, with the other two quotas going to skeet.
