IFFI: Hybrid-mode movie gala concludes with Danish film Into the Darkness winning top honour
Danish World War II epic Into The Darkness won the top honour of Golden Peacock Award at the closing ceremony of the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which was pared down considerably due to the coronavirus pandemic. Director Anders Refn s Into the Darkness chronicles the complex, emotional turmoil of the Danish people during the Nazi occupation of the country. The award consists of a cash prize of RS 40 lakh, to be shared equally between Refn and producer Lene Borglum. The duo, however, were not present.

Padmini Kolhapure calls Marathi cinema brave, but struggling
Veteran actor Padmini Kolhapure believes Marathi film industry is churning out braver content that Hindi movies, but is struggling to thrive amid several challenges, including stiff competition from Bollywood. The 55-year-old actor s latest Marathi drama, Prawaas her third film in the language had its screening at the 51st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the Indian Panorama section.
In an interview with PTI, Kolhapure said the reception to Prawaas was overwhelming and instilled hope that films which are trying to push boundaries will ultimately find acceptance.
Panaji (Goa) [India], January 24 (ANI): The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) honoured the creme de la creme of World Cinema during the closing ceremony of the first-ever hybrid version of the festival that took place at Panaji on Sunday.
PANAJI : Vijeesh Mani, director of “Namo”, has said that the film shows how a ruler and a citizen should be.
Addressing a press conference, he said,”The film shows us how a ruler and a citizen should be. The plot of ‘Namo’ begins in the present, and goes on to connect us back to the relationship between Krishna and Sudhama.”
”The Krishna-Kuchela story is often told to illustrate that God does not differentiate between people based on their financial status. He always rewards real devotion. As per the Bhagavata Purana, Lord Sri Krishna studied at the Ashramam of Guru Sandipan along with Kuchela (Sudama), a poor Brahmin boy. Very soon, both become close friends, but part ways after completing their studies.
