Hauser wins individual race to secure maiden IBU World Cup victory Thursday, 21 January 2021 Lisa Theresa Hauser of Austria ended her wait for an International Biathlon Union World Cup victory by winning today s individual race in Antholz-Anterselva. The 27-year-old, who earned three podium finishes at one of the two World Cups held in Oberhof earlier this month, completed the 15 kilometres course in a time of 42min 29.3sec to take gold. A single penalty did not prevent Hauser from securing a long-awaited victory as she finished 43.7sec clear of nearest challenger Yulia Dzhima of Ukraine, the only athlete in the field to shoot clean.

Friday, 18 December 2020 Tiril Eckhoff earned victory in the women s sprint as Norway enjoyed their second clean sweep in as many days at the International Biathlon Union World Cup in Hochfilzen. Eckhoff, a former world sprint champion, completed the 7.5 kilometres course in 19min 38sec to record her second win of the season. The 30-year-old finished in front of team mates Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and overall World Cup leader Marte Olsbu Røiseland. Despite shooting clean, Tandrevold was second, 7.6 adrift of Eckhoff, with Røiseland a further 17 seconds back in third. Røiseland remains in pole position on the overall leaderboard after claiming bronze at the Austrian venue and is 22 points clear of Sweden s Hanna Öberg in second.

Hochfilzen set to host final Biathlon World Cup before festive break Wednesday, 16 December 2020 Defending overall men s champion Johannes Thingnes Bø will be out to extend his lead before the International Biathlon Union World Cup breaks for the festive period when the season resumes with the second consecutive event in Hochfilzen this week. Bø, the Olympic 20 kilometres individual champion, sits top of the overall standings on 296 points but has only won one race so far this campaign. Olympic silver medallist Sebastian Samuelsson of Sweden is hot on the heels of the Norwegian following an impressive start and is 47 adrift of Bø in second place.
