HENRICO Co., Va. (WWBT) - Frustrations are mounting against the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) after it announced another delay in implementing one of the federally approved benefit programs.
On Wednesday, the VEC stated the implementation date for the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) program has changed, but no date was provided.
âMore communication will be forthcoming,â the website said. âThe FPUC additional benefit of $300 will also apply. Please monitor your Gov2Go account.â
State: Thereâs no timeline for distribution of key unemployment extension benefits
Still waiting for unemployment benefits, many of Hawaiiâs jobless face more delays By Casey Lund | January 29, 2021 at 6:12 AM HST - Updated January 29 at 12:42 PM
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thousands of Hawaiiâs unemployed workers have been waiting for weeks to start receiving benefits from a federal jobless benefits extension program and the state Labor Departmentâs director says thereâs no definitive timeline on when aid will be disbursed.
Hereâs where things stand:
The state had to end the first iteration of the federal unemployment extension program because it expired Dec. 26. But then an extension was signed by former President Trump Dec. 28.
The number of displaced workers filing initial claims for unemployment benefits continued to decline since the start of the year, but they still are higher than they were when nearly two dozen larger counties went into a higher lockdown due to the pandemic back in November.
By the end of last week, 11,432 more workers filed for regular state aid, but the number of people filing for the renewed federal programs â Pandemic Unemployment Assistance for gig and self-employed workers, and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation that adds 13 more weeks for people whose regular unemployment has run out â isnât yet known.
Thatâs because the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is still reprograming its new online filing system to process those claims.

President Biden is continuing to chase a bipartisan deal over his $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief proposal, but White House officials privately acknowledge the bill will need to be pared down to secure Republican support after GOP lawmakers balked at the price tag.
It s not clear how much the White House will be willing to lower the price tag and whether that will be enough to secure Republican support. And even as they acknowledge that reality, Biden administration officials and congressional Democrats are increasingly skeptical a bipartisan deal can be reached.
