On March 25, 2021, Chairwoman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Carolyn Maloney and the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released a staff memo highlighting new evidence of the Trump Administration s mismanagement of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. The Committee memo, which recognizes that these programs played a crucial role in helping small businesses during the pandemic, estimates that nearly $84 billion in potentially fraudulent loans were made due to the refusal to implement basic program controls or safeguards.

Biden Warns Against Panic Following Pipeline Cyberattack
President Biden delivered remarks following the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack and urged Americans not to panic over gas availability. The president also warned gas stations against taking advantage of the current gas shortage.
As part of an effort to use every possible means to accelerate fuel deliveries, last night I granted a waiver of the Jones Act to fuel suppliers. This allows non-U.S. flagged vessels to transport refined fuel products from the Gulf of Mexico to affected areas. And we’ll grant additional waivers if necessary. These steps are temporary, but they remain in place until full service is fully restored. This is as a whole of government response to get more fuel, more quickly to where it’s needed and to limit the pain being felt by American customers.
