Add South Dakota to the growing list of states terminating participation in the federal government’s pandemic-related unemployment assistance programs.
State Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman says the termination is effective the week ending June 26, 2021. She says businesses across the state continue to say they would grow and expand if they could find enough workers. She says “help wanted” signs are everywhere so ending these programs is a necessary step towards recovery, growth and getting people back to work.
Hultman says South Dakota was the only state to not apply for the federal Lost Wages Assistance supplement last fall and the state did not opt into the federal Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation program in December 2020.

Under Missouri’s law, claimants are required to perform and report three work search activities per week. Qualified work search activities include filing an application (online or in-person) with an employer or through job posting sites or attending a job fair, job interview, reemployment service, or skills workshop.
Missouri Job Centers are available to assist unemployed workers with these requirements by providing customized job searches through jobs.mo.gov, job fairs, Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) appointments, workshops, and other training programs.
Employers are encouraged to post job openings on MoJobs. For more information about services available through the Missouri Job Centers, visit jobs.mo.gov.
CHEYENNE Governor Mark Gordon has announced that Wyoming will end its participation in federal supplemental unemployment benefits in order to address workforce shortages being felt throughout the state.
The programs were made available through federal laws initiated in response to the pandemic and include Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and Continued Assistance to Unemployed Workers Act of 2020. The additional payments will no longer be available to claimants as of June 19, 2021.
“Wyoming needs workers, our businesses are raring to go,” Governor Gordon said. “I recognize the challenges facing Wyoming employers, and I believe it’s critical for us to do what we can to encourage more hiring. Federal unemployment programs have provided short-term relief for displaced and vulnerable workers at a tough time, but are now hindering the pace of our recovery. People want to work, and work is available. Incentivizing people not to work is just plain un-Ame
