Washington State ranks 26th in the country for the amount of federal COVID aid it has received through April 15, 2021, according to the latest data compiled by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation. Thus far, Washington has received, $54.6 billion in federal COVID relief and $7,177 in federal relief per capita.

SC DEW: Decrease in initial unemployment insurance claims last week

SOUTH CAROLINA (WOLO) – The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reported a decrease in initial unemployment insurance claims for last week.
According to the department, during the week of April 18 – 24, there were 3,037 initial insurance claims for unemployment that were filed.
This is a decrease of 1,884 initial claims filed from the previous week of April 11 – 17, where 4,921 claims were filed.
On their intrastate map showing initial unemployment insurance claims by counties, Greenville had the highest number of claims in the state with 322.
According to the department, since March 15, 2020, 886,256 total initial unemployment insurance claims have been filed in the Palmetto State.
Regular UI: $2.90 billion
Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation ($300/weekly UI benefits to eligible claimants): $3.50 billion
PEUC (extends unemployment benefits by additional 29 weeks, ARP): $831.4 million
State Extended Benefits (extends unemployment benefits an additional 13 weeks): $32.1 million
Lost Wages Assistance ($300/weekly UI benefits to eligible claimants, fall 2020): $389.2 million
Total: $8.99 billion
The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits dropped by 13,000 last week to 553,000, the lowest level since the pandemic hit last March and another sign the economy is recovering from the coronavirus recession.
The Labor Department reported Thursday that jobless claims were down from 566,000 a week earlier. They have fallen sharply over the past year but remain well above the 230,000 weekly figure typical before the pandemic struck the economy in March 2020.
Colorado estimates 6,700 new unemployment claims

DENVER The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) estimates 6,718 initial unemployment insurance (UI) claims were filed when adjusting for fraud and $9.6 million in benefits were paid out the week ending April 17.
CDLE also said 1,310 initial Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims were filed the same week.

For the week end ending April 10, there were 209,232 requests for continued weeks including 63,260 for regular UI, 61,752 for PUA and 84,220 for Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC).
