NEW YORK (WKBW) â New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that unemployed New Yorkers will begin receiving extended and expanded federal unemployment benefits next week, the first week of the new year.
Next week is the first week the benefits can be paid under federal law and the governor s office says New Yorkers will receive the benefits immediately due to proactive work by the New York State Department of Labor in preparation of the extension of unemployment programs originally included in the CARES Act. Those programs were set to expire at the end of 2020.

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is currently reviewing details of the CARES Act Unemployment Extension Congress recently passed and President Donald Trump signed into law.Â
TDLWD will provide claimants additional information regarding the next steps they need to take to receive the modified federal unemployment benefits listed in HR 133 once it has the program rules from the United States Department of Labor (USDOL).Â
TDLWD must wait on program guidance from the USDOL before it can begin the implementation of H.R. 133. There is no firm timeline as to when states will receive this guidance from the federal government. The state cannot pay benefits until it receives rules for these modified programs.

New Mexico Workforce Solutions Awaits Labor Department Guidance On Implementation Of CARES Act Extension

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) is reviewing the CARES Act unemployment extension provisions contained in H.R. 133.
These provisions bring additional unemployment compensation to more than 160,000 New Mexicans.
“The Department of Workforce Solutions will work as hard as possible to get these extension and increases in place as soon as we receive necessary rules and funding from the U.S. Department of Labor,” NMDWS Cabinet Secretary Bill McCamley said. “We know how vital this money is to New Mexicans and will get it into people’s pockets as soon as possible so bills can get paid.”
