The World Affairs Council of St. Louis â a non-profit organization which assists the community in understanding global culture, policy and business ârecently hosted the virtual International Leadership Visitors Program to honor 2021 International Women of Courage award winner Mayerlis Angarita of Colombia.Â
World Affairs STL was selected as one of only 12 councils in the U.S. to participate in this Visitors Program opportunity, which connects the awardees with American counterparts to share strategies and ideas to empower women around the globe.
World Affairs STL hosted Angarita, who has advanced peace and human rights in Colombia. She founded Narrate to Live, a civil society organization that now serves more than 800 women victims of conflict. Disbarred Azerbaijani lawyer reinstated after repeated demands from international community

The Azerbaijani bar association has reinstated three lawyers who had previously lost their membership. Among them is Shakhla Gumbatova, whom the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called to be reinstated in one of his recent Twitter posts.
On May 5, during a meeting of the presidium of the Azerbaijani Bar Association it has been decided to withdraw the lawsuit against Shahla Humbatova. Immediately after the meeting, Gumbatova was informed that she could resume her legal practice.
At the same meeting, lawyers Irada Javadova and Turkel Suleimanli have been reinstated.
