Economic Development Week recognized this year May 9-15 was created by the International Economic Development Council to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve communities’ quality of life.
The Clinton County Port Authority will be participating in Economic Development Week for the third year in a row, in collaboration with our local Economic Development partners: the City of Wilmington, the Clinton County Board of Commissioners, the Clinton County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission, the Community Improvement Corporation of Wilmington, Main Street Wilmington, the Ohio SBDC at Miami Regionals, and the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce.

A St. Cloud landscape company servicing commercial and homeowner properties was acquired by a Twin Cities commercial landscape company in March.
St. Cloud s Peerless Lawn Care Inc. was acquired by Prescription Landscape Inc., which provides commercial landscape services and snow removal.
Peerless owner and founder Aaron Haakonson will be branch manager for the St. Cloud division. He and his employees will continue on with Prescription, Haakonson said in a news release. We have worked very hard to build our reputation and we are gratified that Prescription recognizes our passion for our clients, employees and the industry, Haakonson said.

National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, to recognize the unique role economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies.
In Yuma, improving the business climate is a joint effort. This year, the Yuma City Council adopted several strategic outcomes and priority initiatives that focus on economic development, including support for a local multiversity campus, additional broadband access, continued riverfront development, a spaceport and enhanced coordination with the private sector. The City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department will join with other economic development organizations across the U.S. to observe Economic Development Week 2021, which will be from May 9 through May 15.
Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council in 2016 to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve communities’ quality of life everywhere. In the past five years, more than 450 campaigns have been made throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Economic Development Offices have created millions of impressions, hundreds of news stories, blog entries, videos, events, and other activities. Campaigns occurred in all 50 states in 2019, with more than 60 communities officially proclaiming Economic Development Week.
