Tactical-Grade MEMS IMU a Form-Fit Replacement for Widely Deployed FOG IMU

EMCORE Corporation, a provider of advanced mixed-signal products for aerospace, defense and broadband communications markets, introduced its new SDI170 quartz micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS) tactical grade inertial measurement unit (IMU). The SDI170 is designed as a form, fit, and function compatible replacement for the HG1700-AG58 Ring Laser Gyroscope (RLG) IMU. The unit is designed for a wide range of high-precision, integrated commercial and defense applications including aircraft AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference Systems), GPS-aided navigation, ground surveying, mobile mapping, ROVs, autonomous vehicles, tactical weapons, and stabilization platforms. With excellent overall performance, versatility, and a high MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) rating over ruggedized environments, the SDI170 is ideal for continuous use applications with no wear-out components. It delivers highly linear accelerometer performance and long life.

New 9Dof IMU, The DMU41 - 50% Smaller, 40% Lighter

Silicon Sensing’s new DMU41 – the highest performing silicon MEMS IMU in a far smaller, lighter, unit. Untitled 1 DMU41 - the highest performing silicon MEMS IMU available today - is packaged in a unit that is approximately half the size, weight and power consumption of its predecessor.   Silicon Sensing Systems has developed a new 9 degrees of freedom (DoF) inertial measurement unit (IMU) which extends the class-leading performance of its predecessor, the DMU30, whilst delivering a dramatic reduction in volume, weight and power consumption. The new ultra-compact DMU41 9DOF IMU Steve Capers, General Manager, Silicon Sensing Systems Ltd, explains: “We have developed the DMU41 in close consultation with customers in the marine and related sectors, many of whom have expressed a need for a highly compact, ‘tactical grade’ IMU that is not ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) controlled.”
