NORWAY’S COMPLICATED AND EVER-CHANGING CORONA RULES were altered once again on Friday, resulting in a bit more relaxation of quarantine requirements upon entry. Those who are fully vaccinated or been infected with Covid-19 earlier can now leave quarantine after three days if they test negative to the virus. A few more countries were added to the list of those from which Norwegians can avoid otherwise mandatory hotel quarantine.
Justice Minister Monica Mæland admitted once again that Norway’s rules can cause great confusion and frustration, also among border patrol personnel. More than 100 police officers will thus be added to border control stations to reduce long lines and allow more time for daily briefings on rule changes.

Australia has banned the bulker Maryam from its waters for an unprecedented 36 months with conditions onboard described as “absolutely appalling”.
The Panama-flagged, Aswan Shipping bulker Maryam was detained by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) in Port Kembla in February after a Port State Control inspection identified dozens of serious safety, maintenance, and crew welfare breaches.
According to the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) the 23 seafarers onboard were owed tens of thousands of dollars in outstanding wages, and a lack of fuel had left the vessel without lighting, air-conditioning, or power for refrigerators. The crew had required urgent supplies of food, fuel and drinking water.

INDIA – With the country s health system teetering on the brink of collapse in the wake of the unprecedented Indian Covid-19 outbreak, the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Seafarers Trust is offering much needed support by providing oxygen concentrators and emergency supplies for affected seafarers and their families.
