The Miami Dolphins will open their three-day minicamp Friday, with their seven 2021 draft picks, five undrafted rookie free agents signings as well as a few players invited on a tryout basis.
The Dolphins will do some on-field work, something that wasn t always necessarily the case in previous years there were some past rookie minicamps that included only meetings.
The rookie minicamp is back after a one-year absence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the subject of rookies, the Dolphins first pick in the 2021 draft, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle signed his rookie contract Friday.

After some quiet time following the 2021 NFL draft, the action picks up again this week around the NFL with the release of the regular season schedule followed by rookie minicamps over the weekend.
As is always the case, the regular season schedule unveiling is highly anticipated even though everybody already knows every team s opponent based on the NFL formula. During a typical NFL Draft, Seahawks general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll don t speak with the media until the conclusion of the seventh and final round.
But there was nothing typical about this year s draft for Schneider, Carroll, and the rest of Seattle s scouting and personnel departments. In part due to the inability for scouts to travel to games and the cancellation of the 2021 combine resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the team opted out of the draft by dealing four picks in three separate trades to acquire safety Jamal Adams, defensive end Carlos Dunlap, and guard Gabe Jackson.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll acknowledged after the draft that, while he likes the team s top-end talent at linebacker, it is a position that needs more depth, and on Wednesday Seattle made a move to add to that depth, claiming Nate Evans a day after he was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
