JTF BICOLANDIA A suspected communist rebel was killed in an encounter with government forces in Aroroy, Masbate, on Monday, the Joint Task Force Bicolandia said Tuesday. According to the task force, the suspect, identified as Roberto Emaas or “Obet,” was found by government troops behind Balete National High School after the 15-minute gunfight. Lieutenant Colonel Siegfried Felipe Awichen, 2nd Infantry Battalion commander, said Emaas has been extorting from small-scale miners and businessmen to fund the armed rebel group.
