It follows-on from International Clinical Trials Day today and is the start of NIHR’s month-long #BePartOfResearch public awareness campaign.

Interventional Radiology is enabling injection of treatments directly into the liver of patient Mike Chapman, who is taking part in the research. Retired chartered engineer Mike is being given a hormone therapy designed to attack his liver cancer cells but leave normal ones intact, shrinking tumours and killing any other cancer cells in his body. The 69-year-old was successfully treated for a rare eye cancer in 2014 but in January last year doctors told him it had spread to his liver.

The 2021 G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting will be held in-person in Oxford on 3-4 June and will bring together health leaders from the world’s leading democracies to agree life-saving action in critical areas of global health.
They will convene at Oxford University – a global centre of clinical, scientific and academic excellence – which has been at the heart of the global fight against COVID-19, with world-leading clinical trials and its not-for-profit partnership with AstraZeneca on COVID-19 vaccines already saving thousands of lives across globe.
A new treatment, being trialed in the Hunter, is offering fresh hope to men with advanced prostate cancer.
