Worker killed after accident at Port of Savannah

Chatham County Coroner David Campbell confirmed that the worker was Stephen Cobb, 50. At approximately 6 a.m. Friday an accident tragically took the life of a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1475 at the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal, the GPA statement read. According to GPA, Cobb s death was caused by an equipment accident involving a rubber-tired gantry crane. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Chatham County Coroner’s Office. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia Ports Authority Police Department. The Georgia Ports Authority would like to extend its condolences and concern to the worker’s family and his brothers and sisters of the International Longshoremen’s Association, the release read.
