A group of British MPs and lawyers called on the UK and other countries to impose Magnitsky-style sanctions on Saudi Arabia this week over its human rights abuses of royal family members, and other high-profile detainees. The call comes as US president-elect Joe Biden prepares to enter office, though little change is expected regarding human rights violations in the Kingdom.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday hoped that the UK would accept India s early harvest proposition within the framework of a larger free trade agreement, which both the countries are working towards. Under an early harvest arrangement, two trading partners significantly reduce or eliminate customs duties on a limited number of goods with a view to promoting trade. Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has required the Party Central Committee to make sharp arguments to dismiss wrongful opinions that run counter to the Party’s basic viewpoint and guidelines during the process to finalise documents of the upcoming 13th National Party Congress.
The Party leader made the instruction at the 14th session of the 12th Party Central Committee which opened in Hanoi on December 14.
The session is scheduled to discuss the summing up of ideas contributed by Party congresses at all levels, the National Assembly, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), socio-political organisations, officials, Party members and people nationwide to the draft documents of the 13th National Party Congress before approving changes to be made to them.
