The International Living Future Institute (ILFI), the leader in the green building industry, is seeking a Portfolio Certification Manager to serve as the primary consulting contact for our clients pursuing Volume certification in any of our visionary programs - Living Building Challenge, Core Green Building Standard, Zero Energy and Zero Carbon.
ILFI’s Volume program allows clients to align their portfolio design, construction, and operations standards with ILFI’s suite of programs. The ideal candidate has been working in the green building industry with specific experience in the areas of energy reduction, climate change mitigation, energy modeling, embodied carbon reduction strategies, or embodied carbon cradle-to-grave analysis. SACO, Maine The Ecology School in Saco commemorated the completion of its regenerative green campus at River Bend Farm during a weeklong ‘Earth Week’ celebration, which included flipping the switch on 712 solar panels, a virtual message from Maine Governor Janet Mills, and COVID-safe tours of the new facility.
The pioneering campus, stretching over a historic 105-acre farm with views of the Saco River is expected to be the first location in Maine, and among only 23 in the United States, to achieve the full International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Certification (LBC), the most comprehensive green building certification in the world.

An experiment in sustainable buildings on the campus of Georgia Tech has been deemed a success.
There are a number of buildings in the Pacific Northwest and Europe that generate more electricity and potable water than they need, but until now there have been none of the so-called Living Buildings in the American South.
The Kendeda Building on the Georgia Tech campus opened in 2019 and is the first. So says the International Living Future Institute after pouring over a year’s worth of energy and water use data.
Over that time, rooftop solar panels on the building generated 225% of the electricity used for classrooms and meeting spaces. Rain collected and treated provided 15 times the needed water. Much of that was used to heat and cool the building through special piping running through the concrete floors.
