Diners rushed to relive the cabin dining experience on Wednesday, despite being unable to travel due to the pandemic. All Nippon Airways (ANA) is offering “passengers” a choice between a first-class seat with a meal for 59,800 yen (£391) and a business-class option for about half the price, at 29,800 yen, on board a stationary Boeing-777 at Haneda airport in Tokyo. They are asked to choose in advance from three menus: Japanese-style, western-style beef or western-style fish, served with wine.

Former International Airlines Group (IAG) CEO Willie Walsh has taken over as the director general of IATA.  He enters as IATA s leader as domestic travel in some countries, including the U.S., has begun recovering, but as international travel, and the global airline industry as a whole, remained mired in the deep Covid-19 slump.  My goal is to ensure that IATA is a forceful voice supporting the success of global air transport, Walsh said in a prepared remark Thursday. We will work with supporters and critics alike to deliver on our commitments to an environmentally sustainable airline industry.
