Olympic Quest, HQ Move - FITEQ General Assembly 12/13/20
(ATR) “You are shaping the future, not just for your country but for the Olympic Movement,” FITEQ chairman Viktor Huszar told 79 members of the fledgling federation at its first virtual annual assembly Dec. 12.
Developing the sport and gaining IOC recognition are the main goals for FITEQ he says.
Teqball was developed just over 10 years ago. In November it was granted full status at GAISF, the Global Association of International Sports Federations, an umbrella body of sports organizations. It is the first step on the path to Olympic recognition.
Near the end of the assembly Huszar discussed what he called a “clear and straightforward objective” for the coming year Olympic recognition and its requirements.

Official seat of FITEQ moved from Lausanne to Budapest during General Assembly Saturday, 12 December 2020
The International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) General Assembly approved the transfer of the governing body s official seat from Lausanne in Switzerland to Hungarian capital Budapest.
In total, 79 of out the 89 registered national bodies attended the virtual FITEQ General Assembly.
The transfer of the official seat was approved alongside the inclusion of Hungarian as an official language of FITEQ.
English and French were already official languages.
The FITEQ head office is currently based in Lausanne, the location of the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee and numerous other International Federations.
Montague and Mexico double winners at IMMAF Amateur MMA Awards Friday, 11 December 2020
New Zealand s Michelle Montague was a big winner at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Amateur MMA Awards.
Montague won two honours as the black-tie event was held virtually in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Montague, the women’s lightweight world champion in 2019, won Best Female Athlete and Best Performance awards this year.
The Best Performance honour was a nod to her victory over Finn Jenni Kivioja in the 2020 Oceania Open final, via arm-bar submission.
Kazakhstan s Bagdat Zhubanysh, another world champion in 2019, was name Best Male Athlete.
