media company Facebook opened up to Jewish community leaders across the globe
about how it actively works to combine machine learning (also known as
artificial intelligence), community standards policies seeking to ensure safe
content, and human oversight to monitor remove and prevent the spread of hate
speech, disinformation and incitement to violence on the platform. In
addressing delegates to the World Jewish Congress’ 16th
Plenary Assembly,

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing mounting pressure to ignore protests by Turkey and follow U.S. President Joe Biden in declaring the mass killings of Armenians and other minority groups a century ago a genocide.
Biden s historic genocide recognition made the United States the 30th country in the world to classify as such the ethnic cleansing that experts estimate killed a million Armenians and hundreds of thousands of other minorities, including Assyrians and Greeks, at the hands of the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
Myanmar’s genocidal military is still a friend to Israel
Public pressure has forced Israel to halt arms sales to the brutal military junta, but the state’s political support remains strong.

The message that the world was silent during the extermination of Jews during the Holocaust is routinely cited by the State of Israel and its Holocaust museum, Yad Vashem. And yet, Israel itself is complicit in silence surrounding a present-day atrocity: the crimes committed by the Myanmar military junta, which Israel is supporting with weapons, training, and political backing. Although legal, media, and public pressure has forced some change in Israel’s defense export policy to Myanmar, political support for the junta has remained strong.

My Aunt Esther would have been about ninety-five years old on April 7. She would have been about ninety-five years old on April 7, if she had survived the Holocaust.
She did not. Sometime in the spring of 1942, she was killed in Poland. She and the rest of my mother’s family and the rest of my father’s family, as well, were murdered in the forests outside of a small town in Poland called Slonim. The Jews in Slonim were killed by Germany’s Sonnerkommando units in the mass murders of thousands of Jews on a few different days during the spring of 1942. This, about the same time as the beginning of the operation of the mass murder factories of the Treblinka and Sobibor.
