For three days since last Friday, the three highest single-day tallies so far this year of COVID cases nationwide were reported – 4,578 new cases on Friday, 5,000 on Saturday, and 4,899 on Sunday.
The 5,000 new infections last March 13 is the largest single-day number recorded in around seven months, or since August 26, 2020, when the daily recorded number of new cases hit 5,277. And the numbers are projected to keep rising, even way beyond the highest daily tally so far of 6,958 cases reported on August 10, 2020.

Data from the city s Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed that of the 722 positive cases from February 28 to March 13, 2021, a total of 104 cases or 14% of the said total cases have been transmitted in workplaces with many employees. Mayor Joy Belmonte said household transmission stems from one member of the household acquiring the virus from his/her workplace. She called on employers to observe measures that will prevent the COVID-19 transmission in work areas. We have instructed our departments to closely look into workplaces and check if they still adhere to our health protocols. Employers must do all they could to minimize risks among their employees, especially essential workers, so they won’t bring the virus home to their families,” Belmonte said in a statement.

TAGBILARAN CITY – A foam party fashion show held in a resort in Panglao, Bohol early this month was condemned by the public and the Church for indecent exposure and breaching health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 7 (Central Visayas) Director Shalimar Hofer Tamano, in a letter to Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap dated March 12, said that the Amanzara Resort in Panglao is not a DOT-accredited entity and it has no accreditation application online to date.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Omnibus Guidelines states that “only hotels or accommodation establishments with valid DOT accreditation shall be allowed to accommodate guests and clients for legitimate purposes under a state of public health emergency.” The guidelines also said that the operations of such hotels and accommodation establishments as well as ancillary establishments within their premises such as restaurants, cafes, gyms, spas, function halls, an
