Bennington State Bank bears give smiles to hospital patients after quarantine

Like so many people this year, the Bennington State Bank bears spent 14 days in quarantine before they were adopted by patients at Salina Regional Health Center for Christmas. The bank has been delivering the bears to patients for six years. For four years before that, they provided Christmas stockings. The bears arrived at the hospital early this month and apparently none of them broke quarantine to find a quiet cave to ride out the pandemic. “All 100 bears made it safely through quarantine in a special room here at SRHC,” said John Berggren, public relations coordinator. Because of the pandemic and the high number of patients at the hospital, restrictions on visitors continue and are subject to change. But basically, inpatients are allowed only one visitor. And, no visitors are allowed for patients in isolation or with a COVID-19 diagnosis. All visitors are screened and must wear a mask. There are compassionate care exceptions.
