Some councilors oppose bid to grant cash incentives

SunStar SunStar File March 12, 2021 THE Cebu City Council resolved to seek guidance from the executive branch on the proposed Charter Day cash incentives to City Hall employees after some councilors raised objections in light of the economic woes caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. During the online regular session on March 10, Cebu City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia withdrew his motion for the approval of the recommendation of the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (Praise) to grant a P10,000 cash incentive to each City Hall employee. The Praise’s recommendation had drawn adverse reactions from councilors. Opposition Cebu City Councilor Nestor Archival said it would be “awkward” to grant incentives to City Hall employees while the private sector, who pay the taxes that fund the salaries of government employees, are struggling to keep their businesses afloat and retain their jobs.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 22 (PIA) Spotting the third place during the Gawad Huwaran in the 2020 Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE), the DSWD-10 gave recognition to its partner agencies and organizations through Salamat Po Awards, February 22. As a result of our collective efforts, yet again, we have been hailed for gaining the highest approval rating among the government offices in the executive branch in the latest Pulse Asia Ulat ng Bayan Nationwide Survey wherein the department garnered a 78 percent approval rating, DSWD-10 Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga said. Among the recognized partners of DSWD-10 include Ramon Ortego of the Land Bank of the Philippines, who aided the department s provision of Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) cash cards for senior citizens; Dr. Lorraine Nery of CDO City Health Office for facilitating swab tests and provision of health certificates of DSWD staff;

On its 70th anniversary, DSWD assures strengthened delivery of social protection services

Published January 20, 2021, 8:01 PM As it marks its 70th founding anniversary this month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said the public can expect “strengthened” delivery of social protection services to the country’s poor and vulnerable sectors.  “As DSWD reaches another milestone, the agency pledges to continue to strengthen its delivery of prompt and compassionate service to the poor and vulnerable sectors to enable them to meet the challenges of the pandemic and evolving challenges of the decade,” it said in a statement.  This year’s theme is “[email protected]: Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa Panahon ng Pandemya.” According to the DSWD, its month-long celebration “will focus on recognizing the invaluable service of DSWD personnel, partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders who contributed towards the improvement of DSWD’s operations, especially during the ongoing pandemic.”
