Rochester Students Develop Space Food for Nationwide Competition Two high school sophomores at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School are making waves in the culinary world after placing second in the national NASA Hunch Culinary Competition. After a tough academic year, Felicity Kulak and Megan Correia were able to end it with a culinary project that is out of this world. With Chef Ashley Ulett at the helm, Felicity and Megan began working on the NASA Hunch Culinary Competition in 2020, which aims to provide astronauts with healthy and sustainable meals. Megan has a passion for outer space, so she and her best friend Felicity knew they wanted to take on this competition head on. The goal was to come up with a recipe that would process well for space flight, in hopes that their recipe would be chosen to fly up into space with future astronauts.

COVID-19 in Kentucky: Latest case totals and vaccine updates

Saturday, May 15 Gov. Andy Beshear s office announced 488 additional cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth. Of those new cases, 118 of them were found in those 18-years-old and under.  Five new deaths were also reported Saturday.  Jefferson County s 113 cases reported are also included in that total.  Kentucky s positivity rate stats at 2.83%.  There are currently 403 people hospitalized, 115 in intensive care and 51 on a ventilator.  Officials also said more than 1.9 million Kentuckians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Overall, Kentucky has reported a total of 452,250 positive cases and 6,648 deaths since the pandemic began last year.  Wednesday, May 12 Governor Andy Beshear announced Kentucky children ages 12 and older may receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine beginning May 13.
